Microsoft Issues Refunds for Redfall Bite Back Edition after DLC Cancellation

Xbox has refunded players who purchased the Bite Back Edition DLC for Redfall. Previously, Microsoft had to cancel upcoming downloadable content (DLC) for the co-op looter shooter Redfall due to the closure of Arkane Studios, the game’s developer.

Microsoft is now finally giving refunds to those who had bought Redfall's Hero Pass, either as a standalone purchase or as part of the game's Bite Back Edition. Initially, the Hero Pass was intended to add more playable heroes and additional content to the game.

A social media post from Game Pass Tracker revealed that players are receiving notifications from Xbox confirming their eligibility for a refund. This message indicates that players identified as having purchased the Hero Pass through the premium Bite Back Edition or the premium Bite Back upgrade will have the value credited back to their Microsoft account.

The second screenshot in the post shows a full refund of $26.99 processed via the Microsoft Store. If you qualify for this refund, it’s advisable to monitor your notifications over the coming days, as Microsoft is expected to distribute refunds consistently.

Redfall remains a significant disappointment in today’s unstable gaming world. Initially announced as an exciting co-op shooter, it struggled extensively with numerous bugs, glitches, and visual issues, which were far more detrimental than its in-game vampire enemies. Shortly after its release, the game’s player count on Steam dwindled to nearly zero, despite assurances from Bethesda’s publishing director Pete Hines that Redfall would eventually improve.

Before Arkane Austin’s closure, the studio released a significant update to Redfall. This update included a much-requested offline, single-player mode and several other quality-of-life improvements.
