Leaked information suggests the upcoming Nintendo Switch successor will support backward compatibility

The anticipated Nintendo Switch successor is expected to be compatible with existing Switch games. This information comes from Universo Nintendo, a Portuguese gaming outlet, which suggests that the so-called Switch 2 will not only run games from the current Switch library but also offer enhanced performance for these titles due to its superior processing capabilities.

This news originally surfaced on the Portuguese podcast "X do Controle" by PH Brazil and was subsequently shared by Centro Leaks on various social media platforms. The same report anticipates the announcement of a Nintendo Direct in the following week, which is rumored to finally unveil what has been a poorly kept secret about Nintendo's upcoming console during an event slated for sometime in March.

The gaming community is particularly abuzz with excitement, given Universo Nintendo's track record of accurately leaking information about undisclosed Nintendo Directs in the past. The outlet also notably disclosed the existence of "Sonic x Shadow Generations" before its official announcement.
